2070: The Future of Public spaces

2070: The Future of Public spaces

This design communication project uses design fiction and world building to open up discussions on the way public spaces are planned in Singapore currently. It would envision a fictional world set in the future (2070) to allow people to visualise what public spaces could be like with public input. In order to map resident’s images of future public spaces, the Valid Ideas Workbook are created and given to selected residents to fill up. By finding out the participant’s different versions of the future, the responses could be analysed to understand their wants and needs in space, as well as their fears and desires.

One idea was selected from each participant and translated into an illustration, forming the inspiration for a future estate in 2070.
